I’m Declaring 33 My Golden Year(Here’s Why)

So I turned 33 last week… and I’ve decided to make something up.

You know how your “golden year” is supposed to be when your age matches the day you were born? Cute concept. Love it. But I think we’ve been limiting ourselves.

I’m officially expanding the definition.

33 is now my second golden year! (lol) 

Why? 

Because the house I grew up in was number 33 and that house and number has always been special to me.

It was where I grew up, where all the memories and everyday moments happened, and where I learned what a home is actually supposed to feel like. It's also always been a "lucky" number of mine for that reason, the sentimental value is so much more. 

So if we’re being logical (or at least the version of logical I’m choosing to go with here)… turning 33 has to mean something, right?

I mean, I didn’t make the rules. Actually… I did. But still.

Now I’m kind of expecting this to be my best year yet. The bar has been set. The universe has been notified.

And if nothing else, it’s a great excuse to claim that anything good that happens this year is because of my “double golden year” status.

Closed a deal? Golden year.

Good parking spot? Golden year.

Found $20 in an old jacket? You get it.

On a real note though, it did make me stop and think about how lucky I was to grow up in a home that felt like home. Not everyone has that, and it’s something I definitely don’t take for granted. It’s probably a big part of why I care so much about what I do now, helping people find a place where their own version of that can happen.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not really about the number on the house… even if I’m currently building a whole theory around it.

Speaking of numbers, my house now is number 288… so unless I plan on living to 288 years old (which feels ambitious, maybe not for my grandma, but deinfitely for me), I think this might be my one shot to really lean into the concept.

So I’ll go all in.
