In reflection of Mother's Day last weekend, I hope all of you mom's had an awesome weekend of appreciation for all you do!!

It got me thinking about the idea of buying my mom a house (one day), and thought it would be fun to share some public figures who bought their mom a house in the NJ/ NYC area!

When it comes to showing love and appreciation for their mothers, some New Jersey and New York public figures have gone above and beyond, gifting their moms a home—a gesture of both love and gratitude. These stars have made headlines not just for their careers, but for their heartwarming acts of kindness. Here’s a look at a few of the Big Apple and Garden State natives who made sure their mothers had a place to call their own.

1. Queen Latifah (Newark, NJ)

Queen Latifah, born Dana Owens in Newark, New Jersey, is a true example of giving back to where you came from. The Grammy-winning rapper and actress made waves in 2017 when she purchased a lavish $2.4 million mansion for her late-mother, Rita Owens. Latifah had long been vocal about her love and admiration for her mother, who supported her throughout her rise to fame. Rita Owens, who passed away in 2018, was able to enjoy the home for the final years of her life, with Queen Latifah often sharing stories of how she made her mother’s comfort a priority. The home, located in a quiet suburban area, had all the amenities Rita could have wanted, including a gourmet kitchen and a spacious outdoor patio.

2. Jersey Shore’s Snooki (Matawan, NJ)

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, one of the breakout stars of MTV’s Jersey Shore, is another New Jersey native who made sure her mom had the home she deserved. After Snooki’s rise to fame, she bought her mother, Helen Polizzi, a gorgeous house in New Jersey. The two share a close bond, and Snooki frequently credits her mom as one of the biggest influences in her life. The home, located in a suburban area with a lot of character, was a reflection of Snooki’s desire to give her mother a peaceful and beautiful space after years of raising her.

3. Fetty Wap (Paterson, NJ)

Paterson, New Jersey, rapper Fetty Wap made headlines when he bought his mother, Lisa Maxwell, a house in his hometown. Fetty, who rose to fame with hits like "Trap Queen," has never forgotten where he came from, and he made sure his mother had a comfortable home after he became successful in the music industry. The house, which has modern amenities and a lot of space, was a long-awaited gift to Lisa, who was instrumental in helping him pursue his music career. Fetty’s story is one of triumph over adversity, and buying his mom a house was his way of honoring her sacrifices.

4. Toni Braxton (New York, NY)

Toni Braxton, born in Severn, Maryland, but often associated with New York during her years of music dominance, is another celebrity who ensured her mother was well taken care of. Toni’s mother, Evelyn, had a significant influence on her career, and in return, Toni bought her a beautiful house. Though Toni faced significant financial struggles in her early years, she used her success to create a secure and lavish life for her mother. The home is an oasis, with cozy touches that reflect the warmth of the Braxton family dynamic.

5. Mariah Carey (Long Island, NY)

Mariah Carey, known for her powerhouse vocals and iconic career, has always been vocal about the sacrifices her mother, Patricia, made in raising her. In 1994, shortly after her rise to superstardom, Mariah bought her mother a beautiful home in Long Island, New York. The singer, whose success skyrocketed with hits like "Vision of Love" and "Hero," wanted to give her mom a comfortable and secure home after years of struggle. Mariah has mentioned in interviews how important her mother’s support was in helping her realize her dreams, and this generous gift was her way of showing gratitude.
