The Thing I’ve Been Prioritizing (And Why It Matters More Than Ever)

This week’s newsletter is a little different since the past few weeks have looked a little different for me.

I’ve been spending more time with my grandma, during a time when she really needs my help, stepping away when needed, shifting my schedule, and being present in a way that.

Frankly, I would not have been able to do this just a few years ago, and it’s really made me reflect on something I think a lot of us quietly wrestle with:

What are we actually building our lives around?

For a long time, like most people, my focus was on staying busy, being productive, saying yes to opportunities, and stacking as much as I could onto my plate…

And while that can be a great for a season, I started to realize something important over the past few years. If I wasn’t intentional, I could easily build a life that didn’t leave room for the things that matter most.

So I started making changes.

Some were financial, getting more serious about saving, earning, and creating stability. Some were professional, letting go of certain commitments that required too much of my time or didn’t align with where I wanted to go. And some were just about awareness, being honest about what I actually wanted my day-to-day life to look like.

The goal wasn’t to work less, necessarily, but it was to work more intentionally.

To create a life where, if something happened, or when something inevitably would, I had the ability to step in and be there for the people I love.

That’s exactly what these past few weeks have been.

And it’s reinforced something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately.

Time is finite, but money isn’t.

There will always be another deal, another opportunity and other ways to earn and contribute.

But time, especially time with aging parents, is something we don’t get back.

That doesn’t mean responsibilities disappear. I’m still here for my clients, still making sure everything moves forward, still prioritizing what needs to get done. But I’ve been doing it with a different perspective, one that feels a lot more grounded in what actually matters.

And, I feel so grateful to have clients who have been so caring and understanding during this time.

If there’s anything I’d pass along from this, it’s this:

Take a look at how your life is structured right now.

Are you building in a way that gives you flexibility when you need it?

Are your financial decisions, your work commitments, and your schedule aligned with the life you actually want, or just the one you’ve fallen into?

There’s no perfect formula, but there is value in being intentional.

But more importantly, I hope you’re making time for the people and moments that matter most, too.

Thanks for listening and I wish you all the very best in your life.

Best,

Alex
